Wardrobe Malfunction

Sunday was a long day at the studio, starting with company class at 10, rehearsal for second act variations from 11-1, then family scene rehearsal from 1-3.
I danced boy doll at the family scene rehearsal.  I was doing pretty good, and felt confident going into the fast pirouette section of the dance.  It was at that moment that I realized my ballet skirt was falling off.  I didn't think I could make it through the entire dance without it getting in my way, so with everyone watching I tore it off and held it in my hand as I tried to pull of the pirouettes.  As I started the jumps that came right after those fast turns I threw the skirt into the group of family scene children who were watching from the front of the room.  I finished the dance, but with all the little kids laughing at me.  Next time I'm not going to wear a skirt.  Or at least make sure it's actually tied tight enough!
Why is it I can't seem to do anything at the ballet school without making a complete fool of myself?

  1. Don't worry about it. :) Just laugh. :) Ballet skirts are a complete mystery to my. Mine always ends up hanging almost down to my knees by the end of class. I wish they made some with an elastic band. Elastic I can understand. :)

  3. Haha, I don't think you should worry about it... You've gotta admit it must've been pretty funny for little kids, but I'm sure they didn't mean to make you feel bad. It could've happened to anybody, and I think you powered through it very well. :) When I was little and we were doing a class recital (it was at a big theater and everything!), one of the girls lost her big, poufy costume hair bow. She abandoned the dance and tried to go and pick it up and put it back on, it was horrible!

  4. Thanks Hannah and Ballettaketwo! I actually thought it was kind of funny. :) I agree with you Hannah that it would be much easier if they made an elastic band. Who cares if it would make you feel like an old lady! :)
